A Gunning Carr

Alexander was born in Penarth in 1891 and baptised on 6th December 1892 with Ivy Charlotte Elizabeth Carr, the children of Alexander, an engineer and Charlotte Carr of Rock Villa, Penarth. In 1911 he was a bank clerk and the family lived at 84 Westbourne Road. Alexander was educated at Westbourne House School, 1896 – 1902, and served in the Royal Garrison Artillery with the rank of Captain. He was commissioned on 1st June 1910 and mobilised on 4th August 1914. Alexander died on 14th February 1919 aged 27 and is commemorated on Screen Wall. 147. 15667.(panels 1 – 6), Nunhead (All Saints) Cemetery. His death was registered early 1919 in Fareham, Hants.
