Charles Crowden

Charles was born in Penarth in 1894, the son of William John and Hannah Crowden. In 1911 he was employed as a bread deliverer and lived with his uncle and aunt, John and Elizabeth Norman and four cousins at 38 Salop Place, Penarth. Charles served as a Sailor in the Mercantile Marine aboard S.S. “Ribston” (London) and died on 16th July 1917 aged 22 or 23. He is commemorated on Tower Hill Memorial.
