Edwin Murray

Edwin Thomas Murray was born in Penarth, the son of Mr. H. T. Murray, of 38, High St., Penarth. In 1911 he was an assistant in a grocery business and lived at 51 Salop Street with his wife Amelia and their children Edwin and Mildred. Edwin served in the 6th Battalion, the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders with the rank of Private (service number S/30429). He was killed in action on 23rd July 1918 aged 31 and is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial. He is also commemorated on St Paul’s Roll of Honour under the name Edward Thomas Murray.
Edwin Thomas Murray, aged 20, son of Henry Thomas Murray, married Amelia Spear, aged 21, the daughter of Lewis Spear, on 3rd June 1908. Their third child Louis H Murray (known as Peter) was born on 5th February 1916. He died in October 2004.
