George Robert Guy
George was born in Penarth in 1890. In 1911 he was an undertaker’s assistant and lived at 24 Plassey Street, Penarth with his mother Sarah Ann Guy, siblings William, Beatrice and Agnes, and his nephew David. George served in the 2nd Battalion, the Grenadier Guards with the rank of Private (service number 22592). He died on 15the September 1916 aged 26 and is commemorated on Pier and Face 8 D., Thiepval Memorial. Before the war he was a police officer stationed at Tonypandy.
