Thomas Jefferies

Thomas Jefferies was born in Penarth, the son of Ellen Jefferies. On 23rd September 1906 Thomas married Margaret Dorothy Angove, daughter of Luigi Horace Angove. Margaret Dorothea Jeffries died in late 1906 or early 1907 aged 18. In 1911, Thomas’s mother Ellen Jefferies was living at 16 King St with her children Annie, Bessie, Doris, Frederick, Maggie and William. Thomas Jefferies, widower, a fridgerman, was lodging at 19 Maughan St, Penarth. He served in the 8th Service Battalion, the South Staffordshire Regiment with the rank of Lance Serjeant (service number 13344). Thomas was killed in action on 15the February 1916 aged 31 and is commemorated on Panel 35 and 37, Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
