William J Tunley
William John Tunley was born in Penarth in 1891, the son of John and Hannah Tunley. In 1901 William was living with his parents John and Hannah Tunley and siblings Arthur, Rhoda, Elizabeth and Lewis at Rock Hill , Pentgeg, Pontypool. In 1911 William was a steel worker doubler and was boarding with William and Kate Rowlands and his brother Arthur who had married Hilda Rowlands, at 13 Sherborne Road, Sebastopol, Panteg, Monmouthshire. He served in the 1st / 2nd Battalion, the Monmouthshire Regiment (Territorial Force) with the rank of Private (service number 3372). William died of wounds on 1st July 1916 aged 26 and is buried at Plot 1. Row B. Grave 38., Louvencourt Military Cemetery.
