Sunday 4th September 2022 celebrated St Augustine of Hippo and William Butterfield.

St Augustine of Hippo, whose feast day is 28th August, is the patron saint of the church.

William Butterfield, who was born on 7th September 1814,  is the architect who designed this Grade 1 listed building.

At 10.45am the usual Sunday Holy Eucharist Service was held with a special emphasis on St Augustine.

The Friends organised afternoon events about William Butterfield and St Augustine’s church

Dr. Chris Riley gave a very interesting talk entitled William Butterfield, Lady Windsor and the building of St Augustine’s. This was enjoyed by an audience of about 50 people.

Following the talk, Chris Riley, Chris Higley and Richard Griffiths showed groups around the church and the churchyard before having tea in the church.
