Ernest W. Coates
Ernest Walter Coates was born in 1915, the son of Walter and Elsie A Coates of Penarth. He married Kathleen. In 1939, Elsie Coates, now widowed, lived at 5 St Augustine’s Road.
Ernest served in the South Wales Borderers, 2nd Battalion with the rank of Corporal. His service number was 3908537. Ernest died on the 10th October 1944 aged 29 and is buried at Ste. Marie Cemetery, Le Havre Divn. 67. Row N. Grave 1.
