Arthur E. J. Dentten
Arthur Ernest John Dentten was born in Penarth on 7th August 1918, the son of Isaac James and Beatrice Emily Dentten. 1n 1939 Beatrice, now a widow, William E, and Arthur E J Dentten lived at 138 Plassey Street.
Arthur served as a gunner in the Royal Artillery, 9 Coast Regiment. His service number was 1492352.
From 15th February 1942 Arthur was a Prisoner of War in Thailand. He was one of a number of Welsh captured in Singapore. His date of birth was given as 7th August 1918, his occupation as shop assistant, his address as 138 Plassey St, Penarth and next of kin as Mother, Beatrice Dentten of the same address in Prisoner of War records.
Arthur was held in Thailand Camp 4 where he died of malaria on 29th June 1943 aged 24 and is buried in Kanchanaburi War Cemetery 8. H. 22.
