Charles G Jenkins

Charles Gomer Jenkins was born in Penarth in 1886. In 1901 he was a Pupil School Teacher and lived at 92 Plassey Street with his mother Lucy Jenkins, brothers George and Samuel and cousin Gladys Wootton. Chas. G Jenkin, a teacher, nationality given as English, sailed from London to Wellington, New Zealand on board the “Athenic” on 21st August 1908. In 1911, Lucy Jenkins was living at 14 Bromfield Place, Penarth with her son Thomas. Charles served in 4th Battalion 3rd, the New Zealand Rifle Brigade with the rank of Lance Corporal (service number 40149). He was killed in action on 7th January 1918 aged 37(?) and is buried at 111. G. 9. Oxford Road Cemetery.
