Edward Palfrey

Edward Palfrey was born in Penarth in 1890 and in 1901 was living in Salop Street, Penarth with his parents Walter and Norah Palfrey and siblings Norah, Gertrude, John and William. Edward married Bessie Leah, who later re-married to become Bessie Leah Thomas. He served in 172nd Siege Battery, the Royal Garrison Artillery with the rank of Gunner (service number 970). Edward died of wounds on 21at October 1916 aged 26 and is buried at III. B. 14., Couin British Cemetery. He is also commemorated on St Paul’s Roll of Honour.
