Walter H Lewis
Walter Henry Lewis was born in Swansea in 1894 and according to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission was the son of J. Dyer Lewis and Harriet Louisa Lewis of 21 Stanwell Rd, Penarth, nr. Cardiff Late of Swansea. In 1901 he was living at 183 Richmond Road, Cardiff with his parents John D and Harriet L Lewis and siblings John, Vivian, Harold and Laura. In 1911, John and Harriet were living at Glanrhyd, Sketty Rd, Swansea with their children Harold and Frances. There is no trace of Walter. He served in “D” Battery, 107th Brigade, the Royal Field Artillery with the rank of Second Lieutenant. Walter was mentioned in Despatches. He died of wounds on 4th August 1917 aged 23 and is buried at XVII. C. 25 Etaples Military Cemetery.
