Percy was born in Metoes, Devonshire in 1887. He was the son of George and Rose Buck, brother of George, James, Rose and Ivor. In 1911 he was a dock labourer and the family lived at 3 John St, Penarth. Percy was married with 2 children when he died. Percy served in the 1st Battalion, the Welsh Guards. His rank was Lance Corporal (service number 95). He was killed in action on 6th March1917 and is buried at V. J. 1. Sailly-Saillisel British Cemetery. Percy was killed while rescuing 5 other soldiers (from ‘Penarth Times’). He formerly served in the Grenadier Guards (service number 12986).
