William G Bwye
William was born on 29th March 1895 at Barry Dock. He was the son of Robert George Bwye, of 28, King St., Penarth, Cardiff, brother of Frank and step-brother of Andrew Coyle and Albert Cyril Sims. From Royal Marine records – next of kin notified of death was Elizabeth of 28 King St, Penarth. He enlisted in the Royal Marine Artillery aboard H.M.S “Queen Mary” on 6th November 1914 with the rank of rank Gunner (service number RMA/14462). William was killed in action at the Battle of Jutland on 31st May 1916 aged 21 and is commemorated on 21 Portsmouth Naval Memorial. He was a member of St Paul’s Church.
