Harry Thompson

Harry Thompson was born in Penarth in 1896, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Thompson. In 1911 he lived at 16 Hewell Street, Cogan with his parents and brothers of William and Robert. Robert and Elizabeth had been married for 16 years and had 10 children but only 4 survived. Robert Thompson died in 1915 and is buried at St Dochdwy’s, Llandough. From Army records – mother Elizabeth, brothers Leonard, William & Robert. Home address, 16 Hewell St, Cogan. He served in the 261st Siege Battery, the Royal Garrison Artillery with the rank of Sergeant (service number 139219). Harry was killed in action on 23rd October1918 aged 21 and is buried at C. 4., St. Hilaire Les Cambrai British Cemetery. He formerly served in Glamorgan. R.G.A. (T.F.) (service number 482).
