Alfred E Hutchings
Alfred Ernest Hutchings was born in Penarth in 1895, the son of Charles Hutchings. In 1911 he was living at 54 Arcot Street with his father, stepmother Mary Hutchings, brother Leonard and half-sisters Rosie and Lilian. He was a doctor’s errand boy. Alfred served in the 8th Battalion, the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. His rank was Private (service number 12312). He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 07/01/1916 and is commemorated on Panel 77 to 80., Helles Memorial.
