C Alan Young

Charles Alan Young was born in Cardiff, the only son of Charles Alfred and Maria B Young (née Burrell).In 1892 the family lived at 1 Church Terrace, Roath. His father, a ship store merchant, died in 1900 aged 38. In 1911 he was a fitter’s apprentice and lived at 16 Cwrt-y-Fil Road with his mother and sister Margaret. Charles served as a Second Lieutenant in “D” Battery. 256th Brigade, the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery. He was killed in action on 14th October 1918 aged 25 and is buried at D. 22., Ramillies British Cemetery.
