Francis H Hooper
Francis (Frank) Herbert was born in Penarth in 1899, the son of Robert and Caroline Hooper. In 1911 he was living at 66 Glebe Street with his parents Robert and Caroline Hooper and siblings Arthur, Annie, Dolly and Stanley (twins), James, Laura, Louie, Susan, Ellen and Leonard. Robert & Caroline had been married for 27 years and had 15 children, 12 of whom survived. Frank served in the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Welsh Fusiliers with the rank of Private (service number 73277). He died of wounds on 30th November 1917 after 1 day in hospital having sustained a severe abdominal wound at Cambrai. He was aged 19 and is buried in IX. B. 13., Nine Elms British Cemetery.
