George Widowfield
George Widowfield was born in Newport, Monmouthshire in 1878, the son of Frank and Annie Widowfield. In 1911 he was a colliery stores agent, living at Clarence House, Royal Buildings, Penarth with his widowed mother Annie and widowed aunt Mia Hedley. He served in the 1st Battalion (Territorial), the Monmouthshire Regiment (Territorial Force) with the rank of Second Lieutenant. George died of wounds on 14th October 1915 aged 38 and is buried at II. D. 8., Lillers Communal Cemetery.
