Herbert Andrew Gunn
Herbert was born in Yarmouth in 1862. In 1901 he was living at 113 South Frederick Street, South Shields with his wife Charlotte and their children Herbert, Annie, Henry, William and Madonna. In 1911 the family was living at 1, John Street, Penarth. Herbert served in the Merchant Navy as Mate / Master Mariner aboard S.S. “Argus”. He was presumed drowned on 31st October 1917 aged 55 when his ship was sunk in a collision. His address was given as 71 Windsor Road, Penarth (Maritime Deaths). All crew was lost including Captain Henry Arthur Cooper.
