John Driscoll

John was born in Cardiff in 1877. He was the son of Timothy and Margaret Driscoll of 51 Arcot Street, Penarth (the last surviving of 4 children) and was a general haulier in 1911. From Army records – next of kin Timothy Driscoll of 51 Arcot St. John served in Royal Engineers Inland Waterways & Docks (service number 157540) and 2nd/5th Battalion the Prince of Wales’s Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) where his rank was Private (service number 51934). He was killed in action on 29th March 1918. In 1915 he is described as being 5ft 5ins tall, weighing 11st 7lb with an expanded chest measurement of 36ins. His address was 21(?) Stanwell Rd. In 1916 he is described as 5ft 5½ins, weighing 153lbs with an expanded chest measurement of 39ins. He is recorded as being a farmer and a former sailor.
