Sidney C Cousins
Sidney was born in Somerset in 1871. He was the husband of Catherine Cousins and the father of James, Edward, Robert, Walter and two other children of 18 Salop St, Penarth. In 1911 he was employed as a quarryman. From Army records Sidney is shown as the husband of Catherine, father of James, Edward, Robert and Walter of 78a Salop Street and the brother of Worthington, Charles, Jessie and Annie. Catherine Cousins was awarded a pension of 22/6d a week for herself and 4 children. He served in the Welsh Regiment, (22nd Wessex & Welsh Battalion (Territorial)) and the Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort’s Own). His rank was Rifleman (service numbers 4177, 21075 & 305). Sidney died of a tumour of the brain on 17th April1916 and is buried in F. 35. Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.
