William G Loader

William George Loader was born at Higham, Somerset. In 1901 he was living with his parents John and Rose Loader and sister Lizzie D (Dora?) at 6 Machen Street, Penarth. In 1911 John and Rose Loader were living at 8 Machen Street with their daughter Dora. William may have been living with his aunt and uncle and his sister Beatrice at 76 Wyndham Road, Cardiff and working as a telegraph messenger with the Post Office (1911 census) although the census shows him as being born in Cardiff in 1897. William served in the 55th Battery, the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery and his rank was Bombardier (service number 62538). He was killed in action on 17th November 1916 aged 24 and is buried at I. C. 7., Courcelette British Cemetery.
